Del Real Music Academy

Founded in 2023 by Nesta Velazquez

With 10+ years of experience teaching & promoting Mexican folk music, Nesta is a cultural leader who’s heritage is rooted in the tradition of Huapango. Nesta directs his skills in production & his influence with artists, community, promotors, & institutions to the program for the benefit of his students.

Our Mission: Cultural transmission of our Mexican folk music & traditions at the highest level through education, preservation, performances, workshops, promotion, & media.

Academy Bands

Creating bands is one of the ways we add to the cultural collective. Our students are trained authentically from within the tradition & when ready they form their own independent bands supported by the academy. Our students’ musical artistry extends well beyond their developmental years & flourish within the culture, inspiring & influencing newer generations.

Master Artist Relationships

We maintain a high standard of musical development by regularly engaging with master artists and popular bands. Master artists carry musical knowledge and cultural lore that spans back generations. We connect with these artists through community & receive workshops as a way to maintain authenticity & add to our musical proficiency.

Studio Productions

We Integrate traditional arts with modern media to showcase our students’ progress and accomplishments. This also serves as a way to reach a broader audience through social media. Our studio projects take the form of video productions, photoshoots, album recordings, live sound training, etc.
